Cable, Gearshift Control: Removal: Removal

- Remove the shifter. Refer to MECHANISM, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL .
- Raise hood.
- Remove the resonator.
- Remove engine cover.
- Remove air cleaner assembly.
- Disconnect both battery cables. Refer to BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Remove battery hold down clamp and bolt, and remove battery.
- Remove battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
- Disconnect cables (1) from the shift levers at the transaxle (3).CAUTION:
Pry up with equal force on both sides of shifter cable isolator bushings to avoid damaging cable isolator bushings.
- Squeeze cable retaining clips (2) and remove cables from bracket (4).
- Remove the Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC). Refer to MODULE, OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER, REMOVAL .
- Remove shifter. Refer to MECHANISM, GEARSHIFT, REMOVAL .
- Squeeze cable retaining clips (2) and remove cables from bracket.
- Remove cable assembly (1) from vehicle.
